Project organisation

The Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER) is responsible for drafting the legislation on space operations. The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS), the Federal Department of Finance (FDF) and the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC) are also involved in the project.

The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), which reports to the EAER, is responsible for implementing the Federal Council's mandate in collaboration with the federal departments, offices and services directly affected by the new legislation. As a result of the new legislation on space operations, existing federal laws related to the space sector will have to be amended. Amendments are proposed to the Civil Procedure Code, the Aviation Act, the Telecommunications Act and the Federal Act on Private International Law.
